Irene F. Russell, 67, of Cresco, IA, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Cresco Care Center.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa, with a scripture wake service held at 7:00 p.m.

Irene Florence Russell was born on February 13, 1947, oldest daughter of Joseph and Patricia (Overmeyer) Ruede in Jackson, Michigan. On July 31, 1965, she married Thomas Russell in Jackson, Michigan. Irene spent her younger years water skiing, golfing, and bowling until she was diagnosed with MS. In 1991, Irene and Tom sold their house in Dickson, Texas, bought an RV and traveled around the country visiting their children and other relatives. Irene became a resident at Cresco Care Center in 2008, the nurses and staff became her second family in Cresco.

Irene is survived by her husband Tom of Cresco, daughter Charlene “Charlie” (Brad) Alden, of Cresco, son John (Debbie) of League City, Texas, granddaughters Erica (Jeremy) Neubauer of Summerville, South Carolina, and Ivy Alden of Canton, South Dakota, her siblings Pat Ruede, Mike (Annabelle) Ruede, Georgene Arcro, and Glen (Rhonda) Ruede all of Jackson, Michigan, Tom Ruede of Hawaii, and Joe Ruede of South Carolina.

Her parents and sister Norene preceded her in death.
