Services for Jeanne Burgess of Cresco were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the First Congregational Church in Cresco with the Rev. Gary Lee and Wayne Wasta officiating. Interment was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanne died Monday, April 24, 1995, at the Howard County Hospital in Cresco. She was 89 years of age.

Jeanne was born on a farm in Winneshiek County on December 30, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Evelyn Walton. She attended the Cresco public school. Following graduation from high school, she worked as a credit manager at Sears, at the Old Lowry Drug Store and at Wolfe's Woman's Clothing Store.

On October 8, 1930, she married Henry Lomas Burgess. To this union two children were born.

She is survived by her son, Robert, of Cresco, her daughter, Carol Hite, of Edina,MN, two granddaughters, and one great-grandson.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry, her parents, two sisters, Frankie Gardner and Kathryn Fleming, and six brothers, Bert, Joe, Arthur, William, John and Pete Walton.
