Funeral services were held at the family home at one o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Arthur D. Phelps, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated.Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery.
Evelyn P. Sheward, daughter of Charles and Jane Sheward, was born in Iron Ridge, Wis., Jan. 16,1855. She lived in Iron Ridge until she was eighteen years of age and then came to Cresco., Ia. The next year which was 1874, she was united in marriage to Morris Barber. They made their home on a farm northwest of Cresco and lived there for twenty-eight years. They retired from the farm and came to Cresco to live in 1902, and have lived here ever since. Their only child, Harriet Maude Barber, passed away on Sept. 3, 1936, at the age of sixty-one years.
Mrs. Barber has been in poor health for a number of years. Death came to her quietly in her home on Sept. 25, at the age of eighty-four years. She leaves her husband and three nephews: A.L. Nichols of Cresco, Lee Harley of Gettysburg, S.D., and Howard Sheward of Janesville, Wis. Mrs. Barber was the last member of her family; three brothers and three sisters preceding her in death.
Mrs. Barber was a good mother and wife and found her greatest happiness in her home. She was noted for her skill in the culture of flowers.
