CRESCO- Funeral services for Lowell E. Bigalk of Cresco were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with Rev. Michael Massa officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco.
Lowell, 54, died on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Lowell Edward Bigalk was born Jan. 27,1956 in Cresco, the son of Vincent and Dorothy (Banker) Bigalk. He attended local schools and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1974. He was active in FFA and had the love of animals and soil. Lowell knew he wanted to be a farmer as soon as he could ride on a tractor with his dad.
His Allis, other tractors and farm equipment, playing cards with his friends, gambling,chess, auto racing and hunting with his dog, Rodney were some of his favorite pastimes. He served as a trustee of the Albion Township Board, and the Rural Cresco Fireman's Board. He was also a member of the Winneshiek Cooperative as well as various other farmers' groups. He was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy of LeRoy, Minn.; the love of his life, Martha Sue De La Bruere of Spring Valley, Minn.; one brother, Stephen (Bunnie) Bigalk of Deer Park, Wis.; one sister: Martha Ellen Bigalk of Duluth, Minn.;His niece: Michelle (Ross) Fritz and Rocco of St. Louis, Mo.; His niece: Donia (Seth) Robinson, Kate, Quinn, and Paige of Rochester, Minn.; his nephew: Scott (Terra) Bigalk, Samantha, Nathaniel, Christopher and Dominic of Harris, Minn.; and his dog, Rodney.
He is preceded in death by his father: Vincent Bigalk; and his aunt: Erma Bigalk
