NEW HAMPTON - Mass of Christian Burial for Charles "Chuck" F. Boyle of New Hampton, Iowa, formerly of Elma was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma with Father Steve Garner officiating. Interment was held in Calvary Cemetery in Elma.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Charles, 72, died Monday, Jan. 27 at his residence in New Hampton.

Charles Francis Boyle was born April 9, 1941, in Elma, Iowa, the son of Charles and Clara (Knippling) Boyle. He attended country school and was a 1959 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Elma. In 1963, Charles enlisted in the Army National Guard and received his honorable discharge in 1969.

On Sept. 19, 1964, he married Barbara Wenig at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Charles farmed the Boyle family farm until his retirement. He was also employed at Featherlite Trailer Manufacturing for 12 years as a security guard.

Charles enjoyed playing golf, gardening, playing cards-especially bridge, going to his grandchildren's events, spending time with family and friends and wintering in Arizona. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Elma, Knights of Columbus and the Elma Country Club.

Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara Boyle of New Hampton; his children: Matthew (Diane) Boyle of Waterloo, Norbert (Lori) Boyle of Ackley, Lisa (Keith) Barnett of Iowa Falls, Randy Boyle of Norwalk, Iowa and Brian (JoHanna) Boyle of Cottage Grove, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters: Norma Buckley of Elma and Judy (Ron) Hillsman of Waterloo; his brother: John (Ardel) Boyle of Elma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Eleanor, Bernice, Patrick, Madonna, Marjorie and James.
