Alson Barton was born in 1840, at Lancaster, Pa. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Winona,Minn.In 1863 he responded to his county's call and served three years in the 7th Minnesota Vol. Infantry. In 1877 he was married to Miss Lucy M. Gates. Four children were born to this union one of whom died in infancy. Two sons and one daughter remain to mourn, besides one brother and five grandchildren.
He had been a patient sufferer for many years. He departed this life May 22, 1910, fully trusting in the Lord who had been his Friend and Comforter for many years. He was a faithful member of the M.E. church and of Memorial Post No. 216. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Gammons were held from the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon. Interment was in Oak Lawn.
