Funeral services for Edith Benson of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco.
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco handled the arrangements.
Edith, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
Edith Benson was born Nov. 20, 1918, the daughter of Michael James and Ida Anna Mae (Mau) Bronner in Howard County, Iowa. She attended Howard #7 School and graduated the eighth grade in June of 1932. Edith completed her high school correspondence at American School in Chicago, IL, receiving he high school diploma on Oct. 6, 1966.
On April 16, 1941, she married Edward Benson at the parsonage of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Edith loved gardening and canning. She also enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies.Edith also loved to watch the Chicago Cubs. She was an active and long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Edith enjoyed having lunch ready for Ed when he came home at noon. Their home was always open to all their nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She is survived by four sisters: Marcella Haskovec of Cresco, Betty Bates of Waterloo, Elsie Pint of Phoenix, Ariz. and Marilyn Nicholas of Lime Springs; a brother: Arnold of Suprise, Ariz.; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Edward; her parents; four sisters: Lydia Howard, Dorothy Rucker, Lorraine Geiken, Geraldine Price; and three brothers: William Bronner, Henry Bronner, and Earl Bronner.
