BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL
Burial services for Walter W. Bloomingdale were held Tuesday in Oaklawn cemetery after funeral services were held at the Ness, Willis & Ness funeral home in Decorah at ten o'clock that morning, the Rev. C. Sandbach, pastor of the Decorah M.E. church officiating.
Mr. Bloomingdale was a former Cresco resident coming here from New York when a young man. He was married here to Miss Frances Halliday who died in 1895. He was married a second time to Mrs. Andrew Anderson and lived for some time in Minnesota.
Mr. Bloomingdale died at his home in Decorah Saturday, Sept. 9, after three weeks illness, having been in failing health for some time. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Bloomingdale's first wife was a sister of Will Halliday of Cresco.
He is survived by five children, his second wife and three step-children. They are Anna Belle (Mrs. Henry Bremer) of Austin, Minn.; Allie Bloomingdale of Mason City, Ia.; Robert of California; Clarence of Pisgah, Ia.; Frances (Mrs. Harry Hagan) of St. Louis, Mo.; Andrew Anderson and Mrs. Alfred Weis of Decorah; Bennie Anderson of Sheldon, Wis. Deceased children are John D., Eva May, Jesse and Walter. There are 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 17 step grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Belle Summerfield of Chippewa, Can.
