Lenora D. Bauer
Lenora D. Bauer was born at Lake Zurick, Ill., Feb. 4, 1850. In the year 1865 her widowed mother with her nine children came to Blackhawk county, Ia., where they settled on a farm. At the age of 17 years she began teaching in the rural schools and continued in that work until her marriage in 1876 with Jacob P. Bauer of Alta Vista, Ia. They started farming in that locality and lived there for 23 years. They moved from there in 1889 to a farm in Howard county and in 1907 moved to Cresco.
Her husband preceded her in death. Her summons came on October 12, 1934, at the age of 84 years and 8 months.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son Irwin southwest of Cresco Monday afternoon, October 15,at one o'clock. Rev. L.W. Moench, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church of Cresco officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by four children; Mrs. Abbie Schmidt of Elma, Ia.; Irwin Bauer, Mrs. Nellie Maronde and E.J. Bauer, all of Cresco, Ia. There are eleven grandchildren: Mrs. Lenora Baderman, Elma; Mrs. Hazel Rimrodt, Alta Vista; Max, John and Olga Schmidt, Elma; Ray, Stanley and Viola Maronde,Raymond, Norbert and Lloyd Bauer, all of Cresco. There are also four great grandchildren.
