Death of Mrs. Minnie Betts

Mrs. Minnie Betts died suddenly at the home of her son Roy northeast of Cresco about eleven o'clock p.m. Saturday, October 19, 1935. Mrs. Betts had been in poor health for several years but was able to be around most of the time. She had spent Saturday in Cresco and was feeling unusually well which made her death come as a great shock to her relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. W.H. Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery.

The following sketch of her life was read by |Rev. Mitchell at the funeral:

Minnie Audell Libbey, youngest daughter of Ivory and Beulah Libbey, was born in Winneshiek county, Iowa, June 21, 1874. She was married June 8, 1893, to Henry Betts who died in 1928. Two sons were born to this union, Roy H. of Cresco and W. Lyle of St. Charles, Ill.

She was a member of the Methodist church, the Woman's Relief Corps and the Royal Neighbors of America. She was of a sunny disposition and enjoyed the companionship of her many friends who will greatly miss her.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, six grandchildren, two brothers, M.O. Libbey of Cresco and Roy Libbey of Waterloo. There are several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Betts and children of St. Charles and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cole of Fayette were here for the funeral.
