Jane L. Barnes, 89, services held Tuesday
Funeral services for Jane Lenora Barnes, 89, were held Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Cresco with the Rev. Gary Lee officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She died February 3 at the Cresco Care Center.
Jane Lenora Barnes was born May 20, 1894, in Winneshiek County, the daughter of Andrew and Breta (Ellingson) Stinson. She attended Valders College in Decorah and taught in the Winneshiek county schools.
She married Ervin Barnes April 14, 1923. They farmed near Kendallville until 1936 when they moved to Cresco. Ervin died in 1976 and since 1980 Lenora lived with her nephew, Arnold Stinson and wife, Kay.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Skogsmark of Seattle, Wash. and Mrs. Sarah Gordanier of Postville and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Josephine Stinson of Cresco and Mrs. Mena Stinson of Jamestown, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; four brothers, Ellino, Steen, Alfred and Henry Stinson and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Severts.
