Harold Bateman, 81, funeral held Saturday

Funeral services were held for Harold Bateman, 81, Saturday, July 22, at Conway Funeral Home in Cresco with burial on Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Wasta officiated.

Harold died July 19 at Veteran's hospital in Minneapolis following a lengthy illness. He had been a patient there for only a few days.

Harold was born in Albion Township on December 17, 1896, the older son of Mr. and Mrs. Oney Bateman. He attended the country school and local high school, graduating with honor. Most of his life was spent farming north of Cresco with the exception of 10 years when he worked as a salesman in Wyoming and Texas. He assisted with land measurements under the triple A program. Harold was a veteran of World War I.

On April 12, 1944, he married Myrtle Holcomb House.

He is survived by his wife and an adopted daughter, Betty, Mrs. Richard Koliha, of Lime Springs. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
