Mrs. Sadie Bents, 78, funeral held Saturday

Services for Mrs. Sadie Bents were held Saturday, Sept. 2, at Conway Funeral Home in Cresco with burial in Oaklawn cemetery. The Rev. Gary K. Lee officiated.

Mrs. Bents died Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Manly Care Center, Manly. She was 78 years old.

Sadie was born Aug. 27, 1900 in Lanesboro, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Evans. She attended the Lanesboro schools. She married Bill Bents in Lanesboro in 1932 and moved to Cresco. They owned and operated Bents Nursery. Mr. Bents died in 1949 and Sadie continued with the business until 1957. She made her home with her children after selling the nursery, but returned to Cresco in 1975 and entered the Manly Care Center in 1976. She was a member of the Eastern Star and attended First Lutheran church.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Lorna Ostroski of Canyon Country, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Ross of Loveland, Colo.; and a son, James W. of Burbank, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister and two brothers.
