Funeral services for Ervin Barnes were held April 12 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Gary Lee and Intern Steven Wohlfeil officiating. Interment was in the Oaklawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements. He died April 9, following a lingering illness.
Ervin Edward Barnes was born Feb. 24, 1893, in Winneshiek county,, near Kendallville, the son of Mr. and. Edward M. Barnes. He farmed the home place until he enlisted in military service during World War I. He returned to farm in the Kendallville area and married Lenora Stinson April 4, 1923 in Cresco. He was employed in the U.S. Postal service and also as a painter. He was a member of the First Lutheran church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Amy Sobolik, Grace Smith, Cornelia Linka; and brothers, Robert and Earl.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora of Cresco.

Funeral services for Ervin Barnes, 83, were held Monday at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Gary Lee and Intern Steven Wohlfeil officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements. He died April 9, at the Howard County hospital.
Mr. Barnes was born Feb. 24, 1893 in Winneshiek county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora.
