Lester Bareis, Former resident, Dies at Age 49

Funeral services for Lester Henry Bareis, 49, of Minneapolis, formerly of Cresco were held from the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church Friday afternoon at 2:00.

Mr. Bareis died suddenly of a heart attack June 13, the first day of his summer's vacation. He and his wife were vacationing at Alexandria, Minnesota, where they recently purchased some property on Lake Ida.

Conducting the funeral services was the Rev. E.C. Franke, pastor. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery with the Bradley Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bareis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bareis, was born in Cresco, August 8, 1916. He was baptized in the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church as an infant and was confirmed in the same church July 12, 1931. At the time of his death he was a member of the Faith-Lilac Way Lutheran church of Minneapolis.

He was married to Janet Drollinger in Cresco September 24, 1939, by the Rev. Leo Moench. Mr. and Mrs. Bareis became the parents of one son, Walter Michael.

Upon first being married the Bareis' lived in Cresco. Mr. Bareis managed the Drollinger Hardware store for several years. In 1950 they moved to Minneapolis. At the time of his death he was employed by the Minnesota Retail Hardware association as a "store planner".

Surviving Mr. Bareis are his wife, Janet, and son, Walter, who is in the navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid and who came home for the funeral services, and various uncles, aunts and cousins.

Preceding Mr. Bareis in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bareis.
