Herman E. Bigalk Dies Monday at Cresco Hospital
Herman Edward Bigalk, 82, of Cresco, well known retired Albion township farmer, died in the Cresco hospital Monday afternoon following a lingering illness.
Had Mr. Bigalk lived an additional day he would have observed his eighty-third birthday anniversary.
Funeral services for Mr. Bigalk will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2:00 from the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn cemetery with the Bradley Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bigalk, born in 1882, farmed most of his life, including a number of years at Langdon, Minnesota, but mostly in Albion township.
Since 1915 Mr. Bigalk lived on his farm 10 miles northwest of Cresco. For nearly 15 years he was semi-retired and made his home with his son and daughter-in-law.
In infancy he was baptized in the Granger Saint Matthew Lutheran church, where he later was confirmed. Most of his later life he was a member of the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church.
He was married to Lena Miller September 11, 1907. Mr. and Mrs. Bigalk became the parents of two children.
Surviving Mr. Bigalk are a daughter, Erma Bigalk of Columbus, Wisconsin, and a son, Vincent Bigalk of Cresco, with whom he made his home. There are three grandchildren, Stephen,Martha and Lowell Bigalk, and four brothers, Albert and Fred Bigalk of Cresco, and Paul and Richard Bigalk of Harmony.
Mr. Bigalk was preceded in death by his wife, who died April 2, 1952, and a sister, Louise, who died when three years of age.
