Elizabeth “Betty” Neubauer, 83, of Cresco, Iowa died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Country Winds Manor in Cresco, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at the funeral home, with rosary at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Monday.
Elizabeth M. Trachta was born on January 25, 1930, daughter of Louis and Mary (Pisny) Trachta in Howard County, Iowa. She attended Howard Center Country School through the 8th grade. Betty married Vince Neubauer at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco on April 6, 1948. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, baking, and was involved in the Assumption and Notre Dame church circles and altar society. Betty was devoted to praying the rosary, volunteered many hours leading the rosary at Cresco Care Center, and initiated the devotion at Country Winds Manor. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Country Winds Manor Auxiliary. As a founding member of the Bonair Chicks, Betty was a caretaker for several poultry barns in the area. She also ran her own upholstery business, sold eggs and strawberries, and milked cows on the farm.
Surviving Betty are her children, Richard V. of Lime Springs; Michael J. (Pam) of Bangor, WI; Vincentia M. (Herbert) Flakoll of Forbes, ND; David L. (Ann) of Lime Springs; Judith (Robert) Larson of Decorah; Patricia R. Klimesh of Big Lake, MN; and Deanne M. (Robert) Hosek of Cresco; 30 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, a brother Louis E. (Mary Jo) Trachta of Vinton; and sisters-in-law Donna Trachta of Chester and Celeste Trachta of Cresco.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vince in 2004, granddaughter April Moore, and brothers Paul, Joseph (Marlene), and Raymond.
