Eunice Amanda Stimpson was born in Vermont and had she lived until next August would have been 72 years of age. She was one of the early residents of this county, coming to Vernon Springs about 40 years ago. She resided there and at Cresco from that time until removing a few years ago to Mankato, Minn., where she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dora Salisbury.

She has been in failing health for some time, but her last illness was of only a few days duration and on Saturday, June 29th, she peacefully and painlessly passed on to the Great Beyond.

Five children are left to mourn the loss of their mother, Mrs. E.V. Johnson of Chicago, Mrs. Dora Salisbury of Mankato, Mrs. Nora Reedfield of Mankato, Orrie B. Stimpson of Chicago and Mrs. Ora Fravel of New Oregon. All of the children and six of her seven grand-children were present at the funeral.

The remains were brought to Cresco for interment in the family lot in Oak Lawn. The funeral ws held in the Baptist church of which at one time the deceased was a devoted and influential member, the services being conducted by Rev. Hill, who spoke feelingly along the lines suggested by his text, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."

It was the wish of the deceased that at her death the usual forms of mourning be dispensed with and in accordance with this request, the pulpit platform was banked with palms, plants and flowers in greatest profusion, and the daughters and grand-daughters were garbed in white.

The funeral was quite largely attended by the Cresco friends and neighbors who came to pay their last tribute of respect and friendship to the memory of the deceased and to mingle the sympathizing tear with those of the bereaved ones.
