Martin Aberg, 63, Father of Eleven, Dies Wednesday

Funeral services for Martin T. Aberg, 63, were held at the Bradley Funeral home on Monday afternoon with the Rev. E.C. Franke, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran church, in charge. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery.

Mr. Aberg died in the Cresco hospital Wednesday afternoon following a short illness.

Martin Toby Aberg, son of the late William Aberg and Mrs. Katherine Aberg of Saratoga, was born northeast of Saratoga March 17, 1897. In his youth he was baptized in the Lutheran church at Davis Corners.

Mr. Aberg was married to Julia Citek at Riceville May 18, 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Aberg became the parents of 11 children, including Helen, Ruth, Dorothy, Clarence, Gladys, Eugene, Harold, Gerald, Ronald and Donald, besides one still-born daughter.

For the first 18 years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Aberg farmed and worked on farms near Riceville. In 1935 they moved to Cresco, where they have since lived. During the last 25 years Mr. Aberg worked as a painter and carpenter.

Surviving Mr. Aberg are his wife, Julia, and his children, Mrs. Victor Kakac of North Hollywood, California, Mrs. Donald Duneman of Cresco, Mrs. Harry Woods of Tucson, Arizona, Clarence Aberg of Richmond, California, Mrs. Harold Anderson of San Fernando, California, Eugene Aberg of Cresco, Harold Aberg of Madison, Wisconsin, Gerald Aberg of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Ronald Aberg of North Hollywood, California, and Donald Aberg, who is stationed at Lowry air force base, at Denver, Colorado.

There are also surviving the Cresco man's mother, Mrs. Katherine Aberg of Saratoga, and his sisters, Mrs. Anna Rakow and Mrs. Inger Graham of Austin, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ernest Kraft of Saratoga. There are 17 grandchildren

Preceding Mr. Aberg in death were his father, William Aberg, a sister, who died in infancy, and the still-born daughter.
