Mrs. Orville Allen Dies Here Friday After Long Illness
Mrs. Orville Allen, 75, of Ridgeway, who died in the Cresco hospital Friday, had been in failing health for nearly five years. She suffered a stroke previous to her hospital admittance October 9.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen are being held today (Wednesday) in the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church. Conducting the services is the Rev. E.C. Franke, pastor. Burial will be in Oak Lawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Allen, the former Amanda Ida Bigalk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bigalk, was born on a farm north of Cresco July 17, 1889. She was baptized in infancy in the Granger Saint Matthew Lutheran church and was later confirmed in the same church.
She was married to Orville Allen in the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran parsonage August 20, 1927, by the Rev. Mr. Engelhardt. Mr. and Mrs. Allen lived all of their married lives in the same house at Ridgeway.
Surviving Mrs. Allen are her husband, three brothers, Theodore, Otto and Herbert Bigalk of Cresco, and two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Anderson and Edna Bigalk of Cresco.
Preceding Mrs. Allen in death were three brothers, Emil, Edward and Arthur Bigalk, and a nephew, Gerald Anderson.
