Mrs. Cora Addie, Ill Three Years Dies Yesterday

Mrs. Cora Addie, 82, widow of the late H.G. "Bert" Addie, prominent Cresco business leader and former mayor, died in the Hyberger Nursing home in Cresco yesterday afternoon following an illness of nearly three years.

Mrs. Addie entered the nursing home a week ago. She previously was a patient in the Cresco hospital since last November.

Funeral services for Mrs. Addie will be held at the Cresco Baptist church tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00. The services will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Benjamin Shaw, and burial will be in the Oak Lawn cemetery. The Bradley Funeral home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Addie, the former Cora M. Little, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. William Little, was born in Arlington, February 10, 1879.

She came to this community with her parents when she was seven years of age.

She was married to Mr. Addie at Blue Earth, Minnesota, August 30, 1899. Mr. and Mrs. Addie lived their entire married life in Cresco.

Mr. Addie, who for more than 50 years served the Cresco community in the organization and management of the Northern Iowa Telephone company, as well as in major civic endeavors, died December 14, 1958.

Surviving Mrs. Addie are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Ivor (Luverne) Johnson of Cresco; a foster daughter, Mrs. Don L. Powers of Cresco, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Shepherd, 92, of Seattle, Washington.

There are also several nephews and nieces, including Mrs. W.H. (Ruby) Forry of Cresco, Boyd McVety of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Hihram Leach, Mrs. Ted Bradley and Mrs. Lyle Kuney, all of Seattle, Mrs. Marion Doran of Puyallup, Washington, and Fabian Kuney and Wilbur Shepherd of Spokane, Washington.

Mrs. Addie was am active member of the Baptist church and was an honorary member of the Twentieth Century club.
