Lee E. Auringer was born March 24, 1888 at Jamestown, Howard, Iowa to Henry James Auringer and Ellen Margaret Williams, the fifth of their six children.

Found in the 1895 - 1905 censuses living at Jamestown, Howard, Iowa: 1895: Lee Auringer age 6.
1900: Henry J Oranger 52, Nellie M Oranger 48, Myrtle D Oranger 15, Lee E Oranger 12, Bessie L Oranger 8, Francis Oranger 58.

Lee married Cora M. Brunson (b November 23, 1886, d December 7, 1971 Indio, Riverside, California) in 1907 at Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had one son, Dale L Auringer (b 1909 Jamestown, d after 1936 California).

Family found in the 1910 census living at Jenkins, Mitchell, IA: Lee E Oringer 22, Corah M Oringer 23, Dale L Oringer 1.

Found in the 1915 & 1920 censuses living at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa:
1915: working as a conductor; Lee Auringer age 27.
1920: married, 31 yrs old and renting a room in a hotel owned by a man from Greece. Believe the couple divorced in early 1920.

Lee married Edith Ellen Hunter (born July 6, 1887 Douglas, South Dakota, died 1957) on August 17, 1921 at Cedar Rapids, Linn, Iowa.

The couple had one daughter, Evalee Edith (born September 7, 1922, Iowa, died December 25, 2007 Buhl, Twin Falls, Idaho).

The family is mentioned in various city directories for Cedar Rapids, Iowa during the 1920's.

Found in the 1940 census living at Home, Mountcalm, Michigan: Lee Oranger 52, Edith Oranger 51, Elvalee Oranger 17. Says he is a janitor and finished 8th grade.

After Edith's death, Lee may have married a Ruth Dulin (Heath) on April 4, 1959 at San Diego, California according to a marriage record found on Ancestry.com.

Lee E Auringer died February 6, 1964 at Riverside, California and was buried at the Albert Township Cemetery, Lewiston, Montmorency, Michigan.
