Julia Aberg, 86, services Thursday
Funeral services for Julia Aberg will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home with a V.F.W. service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
She died January 5 at the Howard County Hospital at the age of 86.
Julia Aberg was born February 24, 1899, at Saratoga, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Rosa (Machek) Citek. On May 22, 1918, she married Martin Aberg at Riceville. They became the parents of 11 children. Julia was a cook at Clemmer's Cafe in Cresco for many years and later for the Hyberger Nursing Home. Following retirement she made her home with her son, Eugene, until three years ago when she entered Evans Memorial Home.
Julia is survived by five sons: Harold of Waupeen, WI, Eugene of Cresco, Gerald of Perry, Ronald of North Hollywood, CA, and Donald of Sepulveda, CA; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Duneman of Cresco, Mrs. Victor (helen) Kakac of Palm Springs, CA, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Woods of Tucson, AZ, and Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Anderson of Sylmar, Ca. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Citek of Milwaukee, WI; and a sister, Mary Kunkel.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Clarence; and an infant daughter; two brothers, Joe and Bill; and two sisters, Agnes and Mayme.
