Services held for Marvin Anderson
Funeral services for Marvin Anderson of Cresco were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14 at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco with Rev. Gary Lee officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco. Pallbearers were: Daryl Vikre, Jeffrey Vikre, Neil Vikre, Jeremy O'Brien, Justin O'Brien, Sarah Fowler and Jill Lind. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Marvin, 88, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at his home in Cresco after a long illness.
Marvin Anderson was born July 7, 1915 in Winneshiek County the son of Edward and Mary Anderson. He grew up and received his education in Decorah.
On August 19, 1939 he married Eunice Finholt. They made their home in Decorah until 1946 when they moved to Cresco. At that time he and his brother-in-law, Orlando Finholt, purchased Cresco Heating and Ventilating from L.B. Strayer. He later became the sole owner of the business and operated it until his retirement. He sold the business to a nephew, Daryl Vikre.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Cresco.
After retiring, he spent a lot of time doing woodworking and refinishing. He love bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Eunice; two daughters: Pam Wicks of Decorah and Linda O'Brien of Cresco; and five grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
