Services held for Lona Anderson
Funeral services for Lona Anderson of Cresco were held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco with the Rev. Gary Lee and Intern Steve Gjerd officiating. Pallbearers were Jay Anderson, Troy Anderson, Ken Platt and Bob French. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lona died Thursday, March 18, 1999 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, at the age of 72.
Lona Marie Brown Anderson was born in Council Bluffs on July 24, 1926 the daughter of To L. and Marie Brown. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs and two years at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. During this time she was a University Seal in synchronized swimming. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and was a concert pianist.
On June 1, 1948 she married C.J. Anderson.
Lona was active in Federated Women's Club, was organist at First Lutheran Church, pianist for the Stratavarious Violinist, Rubinstein, sang with the Protivin Sweet Adeline Chorus, and raised and showed her Arab horses.
She is survived by her children: Karen Anderson Noecker of Merced, CA, Jay Anderson of Emmons, MN, Janet Rau, of Detroit, MI, and Troy Anderson of Nevada; five grandchildren; and one sister, Jo Ann Harbert of Glenwood Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
