Duane H. Dietzenbach, 62, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
A mass of Christian burial for Duane will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco at a later date. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home with a scripture service to follow. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Duane was born January 29, 1951, son of Urban and Lucy (Schmitt) Dietzenbach in West Union, Iowa. Duane graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1969. On August 26, 1972 , he married Cheryl “Sherie” Burke at Assumption Parish in Cresco. Duane was a Territorial Sales Manager at Featherlite Trailers for several years. Duane liked to cheer on Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. while watching NASCAR. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, planting trees, camping, fishing, and relaxing on his pontoon.
Surviving Duane are his daughters, Jessie (Dave) Myers of North Bend, Washington and their children, Jackson, Lainey, and Camille, and Sara (Austin) Mason of Encinitas, California and their daughter Coral and baby due in February; former wife of thirty-four years Sherie Dietzenbach of Cresco, Iowa; and his siblings, Don (Jan) of Evergreen, Colorado, Jim, Robert, JoAnne (Gary) Larson, Richard, Dean, Kevin, Dale (Julie) all of Cresco.
Preceding Duane in death is his sister-in-law, Kathy Dietzenbach; maternal grandparents, William and Anna Schmitt; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Dietzenbach.
