A memorial service for Donald D. Hall of Cresco will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. A private ceremony will take place later this summer at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco is handling the arrangements.

Donald, 75,died Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Donald D. Hall was born Jan. 14, 1935 in Cresco the son of Arthur E. and Vivian (Gibson) Hall. He graduated from Cresco High School in 1953. Don was a two-time high school state champion wrestler and captain of the wrestling team at Iowa State College where he earned a bachelor's degree. Upon graduation from Iowa State, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Don also held a master's degree in international affairs from George Washington University. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1986 and joined Rome Research Corporation, Rome, New York as an executive vice president.

Don was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Kiwanis and on the board of directors of the Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation. Don liked to golf,fish,drive small sports cars, build furniture and spend time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene Aegler Hall of Cresco; daughter: Amy (John) Kresse of Falls Church, Va.; son: Andrew (Shelley) Hall of Bend, Ore.;grandchildren: Stephen Kresse, Nathan Hall and Elsa Hall; sister: Maezene (Jack) Walker of Fairfaz, Va.; brother: Jim (Beth) Hall of Centralia, Wash.; and three nephews and two nieces.
