LIME SPRINGS - A Celebration Of Life Gathering for Kenneth "Ken" D. O'Kada of Lime Springs, Iowa will be held in September 2013 after Ken's grandson Aaron completes Marine basic training.

Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Kenneth, 75, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Iowa City VA Health Care System in Iowa City, Iowa.

Kenneth D. O'Kada was born on Nov. 5, 1937 in Cresco, Iowa the son of Henry and Violet (Betts) O'Kada. He was a Cresco High School state wrestling champion. Ken attended Iowa State University for a few years, and then joined the United States Navy.

On Nov. 1, 1969, he married Susanne Glenna. They farmed the Lime Springs and Cresco areas. He was a Disabled American Veteran and American Legion Post #135 member.

Ken is survived by his wife: Susanne of Lime Springs; son: Daniel (Hyunji) of Harmony, Minn., who are expecting twins in November; daughter: Kimberly of West Union, Iowa, and her children, Brittany, Aaron, Tyler, Torin, Martin, and Emma, his siblings, Carl, Glen, Ida (Pete) Krueger, and June O'Kada.
