Robert W. Layton was born on March 3, 1919 and passed away on April 29, 2013, and Dora F. (Wildman) Layton was born on January 30, 1917 and passed away on October 1, 2012. They were married for 66 years. Robert graduated from Cresco High School in 1936. Dora graduated in 1935. Robert’s parents owned the Layton Rexall Drug Store in Cresco where Dora was an employee. She later worked for the Iowa Power and Light Company. After Robert returned from WWII having served in the Army Air Corps, he managed the drug store from 1946-1956. Robert and Dora were married in 1946. Dora was a member of The Order of Eastern Star. Robert was a member of the Cresco Volunteer Fire Department and The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Survivors include, Robert’s brother, Jack (Bette) Layton, a daughter Jane (Gerald) Seifert, two granddaughters, Catherine (Christopher) Toeniskoetter, and Kristin (Timothy) Durkin, and five great grandchildren, Aidan, Jake, Kellen, Logan, and Madison. They were preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, Dora's parents, Al and Bess Wildman, and Robert's parents, Willis Layton and Grace Hanson, Dora's brothers, Howard, Robert, and John Wildman, and her sister, Verna Carlson.
Service:
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, Iowa.Cemetery:
