CRESCO - Funeral services for William "Bill" Laue of Cresco, Iowa were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Elma, Iowa with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating. Interment was held in Saratoga Township Cemetery in Saratoga, Iowa.

Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Bill, 65, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Country Winds Manor in Cresco.

William Diedrich Laue was born Jan. 24, 1948, in Elma, Iowa, the son of Herman and Clara (Stevenson) Laue and grew up on a farm near Maple Leaf. He graduated in 1966 from Crestwood High School in Cresco.

On Jan. 21, 1967, Bill married Janice Kay Abbas at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, Iowa. The couple had four children. After high school Bill worked at John Deere in Waterloo until 1972. The couple started farming and in 1973 purchased a farm near Maple Leaf where they raised their family. The couple later divorced. Bill started working for the Donaldson Company, Inc. in Cresco in 1977, and was a member of UAW Local #120. He eventually retired from farming, moved to Cresco, and retired from Donaldson's in 1998.

Bill was a member of St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Elma.

Bill is survived by his children: Michael (Carleen) Laue of Charles City, Iowa, Michelle (Robert) Sievert of Claremore, Okla., Melissa (Gerry) Pickar of Nowata, Okla., and Mitch (Deb Nichols) Laue of Waverly, Iowa; his sisters: Maxine Friedrich of Elma, Alice (Dean) Schroeder of Chester, Iowa, Anne Mae Wolfgram of Fairbank, Iowa, and Sharon (Gary) Zajik of Charles City, Iowa; his brothers: Dale Laue of Elma and Gary (Ann) Laue of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Linda Fogarty and Donna Frederickson; his brothers-in-law: Loyd Friedrich and Darol Wolfgram; and two nephews: Lonnie Friedrich and Bill Wolfgram.
