Funeral services for Kenneth Roethler of Charles City, formerly of Elma, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 26 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma with Monsignor John Hemann officiating.
Kenneth's wife and children placed the pall.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Elma.
Pallbearers were: Leon Roethler, Jeremy Roethler, Brian Roethler, Adam Roethler, Kenny Roethler, Jennifer Schultschik, and Michael Schultschik. Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Kenneth, 76, died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN of natural causes.
Kenneth Clarence Roethler was born January 26, 1927 near Elma, the son of Leo and Mae (Moosman) Roethler. He attended Howard County Country Schools near his family's home.
On June 17, 1950 he married Evelyn Lockey at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in the Davis Corners area. They later moved to rural Alta Vista where he worked at the Equity and continued farming. He then went to work at Oliver-White Farm in Charles City. Later he operated a stump grinding business in Elma for nearly 20 years. They retired and moved to Charles City in 1989, where they were residing.
Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, wood carving, and wintering in Arizona.He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Charles City; three children: Dale of Alta Vista, Randy of Elma, Debbie Roethler of Cresco; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers: Milo of Waterloo, Wally of Waukon, James of Riceville, Leroy of Elma, and Robert of Orchard; and one sister: LaVonne Armstrong of Gilbertville.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Lucille Roney; and two brothers: Jack and Donald.
