Funeral services for Arlene Hyke of Lourdes were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes with Monsignor John Hemann officiating.
Arlene's children placed the pall. Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes.
Pallbearers were: Jennifer Mincart, Brian Riley, Emily Riley, Rachael Riley, Amanda Whiteman, Ashley Whiteman, Austin Ollendieck, and Jeremy Hyke. Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Arlene, 71, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton of cancer.
Arlene Rosella Hyke was born September 26, 1932 at Lourdes, the daughter of Frank and Abbie (Kubik) Nibaur. She received her education at Our Lady of Lourdes School.On April 16, 1951 she married James Hyke at Our lady of Lourdes Catholic church by Fr. Noonan.
They lived in Lourdes where they farmed and remained after retirement. Arlene worked for the Pinicon in New Hampton for over 20 years and later worked at the Chatter Box Restaurant in Ridgeway.
Arlene enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, cooking, and bingo scratch tickets. She especially looked forward to the annual Steeple Days Celebration and antique tractor pull in Lourdes.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Rosary Society.
She is survived by three children: Deb Riley of New Hampton, Ann Ollendieck of Ridgeway, and Tim of Cresco; eight grandchildren; and two sisters: Regina Praska of Elma and Mildred Flaherty of Cresco.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband James on May 1, 2000; her parents; one brother: Raymond; and one sister: Rosella Nibaur.
