John A. Tuchek

Funeral services for J. A. Tuchek were held at the Assumption church in Cresco Wednesday morning, August 30, the Rev. Fr. Supple officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery at Schley. Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Speer, daughters Dorothy Lee and Donna Lou and son David John of Igloo, S. D.; Mrs. Glen Bowers, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tucheck, Protivin; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Huber and Mike Huber of Austin, Minn.; Lawrence Billmyer, LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bowers, Postville.

Pallbearers

Pallbearers were Mike Der, C. B. DeWalle, James Zbornik, Mike Slifka, Ben Mikota and John Vrba.

John Albert Tuchek was born at Protivin, Ia., May 15, 1889. He attended Holy Trinity school at Protivin and on Oct. 12, 1911, was united in marriage with Addie Shores at Little Turkey, Ia. One daughter, Irene, who is now Mrs. Robert Speer, was born to this marriage. She and her three children, Dorothy Lee, Donna Lou and David John survive. Besides them he is survived by his second wife, Leone Huber Tuchek, with whom he was united in marriage November 21, 1921.

Surviving Relatives

Also surviving are one brother, Charles Tuchek of Protivin and two sisters, Mrs. Glen Bowers of Milwaukee and Mrs. Gordon Bowers of Cresco. Deceased was the son of John and Barbara Tucheck who have been dead many years.

Mr. Tuchek was in the tavern and café business for 34 years. He was al Calmar 12 years and at Protivin for five years. For seventeen years Mr. and Mrs. Tuchek were in business in Cresco. They sold their place to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Huber and retired June 1, this year. Mr. Tuchek passed away at his home at 422 Vernon Road Saturday, Aug. 25, 1944, after a lingering illness.
