Frank Tetzner

Mr. Frank Tetzner, 52, a resident of Howard county for more than thirty years, passed away at his home last Thursday afternoon, death being caused by a lung ailment. Mr. Tetzner had been ailing for several years, but has been seriously ill only about two months.

Funeral services were held Sunday after at 1:30 at the home, five miles northeast of Elma and at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church near Maple Leaf at 2:00, with the Rev. F. Sauerbrey officiating. Burial was made in the Maple Leaf cemetery. Pall bearers were: Charles Dudak, James Fitzgerald, Ernest, Dan and Erich Friedrich and Wm. Ball.

Frank Fred Tetzner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tetzner, was born October 30, 1888, near Traer, Tama county, Iowa. He came to Howard county with his parents in March, 1909, from Reinbeck, Iowa, where they had lived a short time, and settled in the Maple Leaf community, where they have since lived.

He was married October 6, 1915, in the Maple Leaf church, to Miss Ida Lamprecht, and to this union was born one son, Lavern, who survives. Also surviving are his widow, three brothers, Albert and John of Waterloo and Herman of Reinbeck; three sisters, Mrs. Alvina Saltar of Davenport, Mrs. Lena Manlick of Osceola, and Mrs. Minnie Saltar of Windom, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and by two sisters, Mrs. Martin Shumaker and Mrs. Henry Jebens.

Mr. Tetzner was a devoted husband and kind father. He was a helpful neighbor and was always willing to help any one who was in need. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church of Maple Leaf, his membership dating back to 1916, and will be greatly missed by his congregation, as well as by his family and by his large group of friends in the community.

Mr. and Mrs. Tetzner had observed their 25th wedding anniversary only last month, when a group of friends and relatives gathered at their home on October 20th, about two weeks after their actual anniversary. At that time they received the felicitations of their many friends and it is with a deep feeling of sorrow that they attended his funeral only two weeks later. – (Reprinted from Elma New Era.)
