Services held Thurs. for Ruth Rethamel

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25 for Ruth E. Rethamel of Cresco at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiated with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery at Schley. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She died April 23, 1991, at the Howard County Hospital at the age of 74.

Ruth E. Rethamel was born to Frank and Agnes (Sir) Opat on July 19, 1916, at Deerfield, Iowa. She attended the rural schools.

On October 22, 1935, Ruth married Edmund Rethamel. They were the parents of two children.

She is survived by a son, Eldred Rethamel and a daughter, Shirley Rethamel, both of Cresco; also a sister, Emma Korbel of Lime Springs and a brother, Edward Opat of Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 13, 1974; sisters, Agnes Hruska and Frances Foley and brothers, Joseph and Frank Opat; also two brothers and three sisters who died in Czechoslovakia.
