Funeral services for Mrs. Lorraine L. Vokaty Pesek were held Monday, Oct. 2 at Holy Cross church in Schley, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Donald Bakewell officiated at the service with Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pesek died Sept. 28 at the Howard County hospital at the age of 42, after a brief illness.

Lorraine L. Shimek was born Oct. 1, 1935, in Howard county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shimek. On Nov. 15, 1954, she married Cletus R. Vokaty. They became the parents of four children. Cletus died Jan. 6, 1972.

Lorraine married Robert C. Pesek June 23, 1973 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1975.

Lorraine was owner and operator of the Schley Tavern.

Survivors include her four children: Wayne Vokaty of Cresco, Jillaine, Maureen and Ruby, at home; four step-children, Gerald Pesek of Des Moines and Steven, Jean and Julie Pesek of Cresco; one grandchild; five step-grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Rose Shimek of Cresco; two sisters, Mrs. Loretta Joerger of Napa, Calif.; and Mrs. Gerald Gehling of Albert Lea, Minn.; three brothers, Clarence Shimek of Elma, Cletus Shimek of Charles City and Kenneth Shimek of Cresco.
