Edward J. Ondrasek

Funeral services for Edward J. Ondrasek, who died at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ondrasek, Sept. 15, 1946, were held at the Assumption church on Wednesday morning. The Rev. E. J. Supple officiated. Burial with full military honors was made in Holy Cross cemetery at Schley, members of Cresco Post No. 135 of the American Legion officiating.

Deceased was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted as a private at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., Aug. 18, 1942. He was a member of Co. of M. P. Detachment. He served as head of the fire department at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Ark., and received his honorable discharge Aug. 28, 1943, after an accident in which he lost a finger.

Born at Schley

Edward J. Ondrasek was born at Schley, Iowa, Sept. 26, 1906. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ondrasek. He attended the rural school at Schley and lived with his parents until entering the army. Since his discharge he lived at the parental home and his last work was with the Standard Oil Pipeline Co., in Howard county.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Leonard Wendl of Cresco.

Pallbearers were George Malek, Ralph Malek, Jerry Valvoda, Edward Hron, George Lentz and Harold Kaatz, all cousins of the deceased.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Krysan, Calmar, Mrs. Earl Sobolik, Grand Meadow, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Lentz, Mr. Joseph Malek and family, Spillville; Mrs. Phil Gerleman, Calmar.

Card of Thanks

We wish to express our appreciation to all who extended comforting sympathy and help in our recent bereavement, the death of our beloved son, brother and uncle, Edward J. Ondrasek. We extend our most sincere thanks to Father Supple for his comforting words, the pallbearers, Mr. Bradley, firemen and to the relatives, neighbors and friends for the many beautiful flowers and spiritual bouquets. Also to those who brought food to the home and assisted with the work. We are grateful for every thoughtful remembrance and expression of sympathy.
