Lyell Murray services held March 1

Services for Lyell Murray, 76, of Cresco, were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, at the United Methodist Church in Cresco with spring interment in Phillips Cemetery at Bonair. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco was in charge of arrangements.

He died Friday, February 25, 1994, at LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital.

Lyell was born August 20, 1917, in Elgin, Il. He attended school in the Albion Township of Howard County and graduated from Cresco High School in 1935.

On October 25, 1938, he married Lucille Ruzicka at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They farmed in the Bonair area until 1960 when they moved to Cresco and Lyell began working for the Howard Winneshiek School System retiring from there in 1979 as Supt. of Buildings and Grounds.

Surviving him are his wife, Lucille; two sons, William of San Diego, CA, and Gene of Coralville; one daughter, Diane Qvern of Glenwood; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Ruth Logsdon of Alva, OK; Esther Zweibohmer of Ossian and Rose Berkey of Devils Lake, ND.

Preceding him in death were a son, Dennis, and one brother, Paul.
