Arthur Mrachek rites held Monday at Schley

Funeral services for Arthur Mrachek were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5 at Holy Cross Catholic church in Schley with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Donald Bakewell officiated. Conway Funeral Home made the arrangements.

He died Friday, Feb. 2 at the Howard County hospital following a heart attack three weeks earlier. He was 66 years of age.

Art was born near Cresco on Sept. 25, 1912, the son of Arthur and Stella Mrachek. He attended the local schools and farmed. On Feb. 15, 1939 he married Grace Valvoda. They became the parents of two children.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, and two sons, Walter of Cresco and Alvin of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren; two brothers, George and Frank, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Bina, all of Cresco.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe in 1944.
