GEORGE MALEK OF SCHLEY, DIED ON THURSDAY EVENING

Young County Business Man Operated Schley General Store. Funeral Services Held Monday

A requiem high mass for George Malek of Schley, age 35, who died in his home in Schley Thursday night, following more than a year’s illness, was sung in the Holy Cross church in Schley Monday morning.

The Rev. Francis Lana, assistant pastor of the Holy Trinity church in Protivin, sang the mass. Burial was in the Holy Cross cemetery.

George Adolph Malek, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Malek, was born in Schley, May 21, 1913. He received his education in the Paris township rural school and in a business college in Mason City.

His marriage to Bernadette Wenthold was performed in the Saint Joseph church in Cresco April 18, 1939.

Mr. Malek had operated the general merchandise store in Schley until the time of his death.

He is survived by his widow, and his parents of Schley, and one sister, Mrs. Eldon McGee of Minneapolis.
