Fred Lukes, 83, Cresco native dies

Fred S. Lukes, 83, of Hoquiam, WA died recently in a hospital in Hoquiam. He was born on August 3, 1903 in Cresco and attended school in Iowa and Minnesota.

In 1926 Fred married Anna S. Vorda at Protivin. They moved to Hoquiam in 1936 and Fred worked as a mechanic and then at a millwright at Harbor Plywood. He retired in 1960 and operated Fred's Repair Shop for small engines and appliances.

His wife, Ann survives; also a daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
