William Hyke, 82, Funeral on Nov. 10

Funeral services for William L. Hyke were held Nov. 10 at the Holy Cross Catholic church. The Rev. Clarence Kruse conducted the services. Burial was in the Schley cemetery with the Peckosh-Conway Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

He died Nov. 7, at the Birtwistle Rest home at the age of 82. He was born May 28, 1888, in Winneshiek county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hyke. He was married to the former Mary Ann Malek. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Stephens Catholic church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one infant daughter, Eleanor; sisters, Anna Ballnak and Mrs. Sophia Bohach.

Mr. Hyke is survived by his children, Ben Hyke of Sacramento, Calif., Leonard Hyke of Chester, William Hyke of Waterloo, Clem Hyke of Rochester, Mrs. Mike Driscoll of Cresco, Mrs. Leeman Hudson of Cresco, Mrs. Thomas McKeown of Minneapolis, Mrs. Genevieve Christensen of Lime Springs, and Charles Hyke of Waterloo; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three brothers, Clem Hyke of Cresco, Adolph Hyke of Elma, and Vince Hyke of Waterloo; and one sister, Mrs. Joe Kuboushek of Fort Atkinson.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Minneapolis, and Rochester, Minn., Reedsburg, Wis., Des Moines, Waterloo, Fredericksburg, Protivin, Elma, Chester, Lime Springs, Fort Atkinson, Calmar, Ossian, Ridgeway, Decorah, Cedar Rapids and Cresco.
