Mrs. Howe, a dear, kind neighbor, has gone to her heavenly home. She had crossed the ocean and endured all the hardships of pioneer life, having wolves around her door, and at one time taking her little children and lying on the ground near the house to escape the consuming flames of a prairie fire. She was kind to every one, and never said one word to injure another’s reputation. Her life was a quiet, unostentatious one, spent at home in caring for her own loved ones, but it has its influence and has already received the reward promised to the faithful.

Transcriber’s Note: Per her husband’s obituary, she was Charlotte Knight and married Philip Howe in 1835 and died April 2, 1891.
