Services held today for Clara Horn

Funeral services for Clara Horn, 81, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco with interment to be in Holy Cross Cemetery at Schley. The Rev. Michael C. Fitzgerald will be officiating. Conway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clara died Friday, March 7, 1997, at her home in Cresco.

Clara Louise Horn was born July 11, 1915 on a farm north of Protivin, the daughter of Joseph W. and Mary (Pecinovsky) Pecinovsky. She attended the rural Howard County schools through the eighth grade.

On May 22, 1934, she married Raymond L. Horn at Protivin. They farmed in Howard, Chickasaw and Winneshiek counties until they moved to Cresco in 1982. After moving to town, Clara helped at the school lunch program at St. Joseph’s School.

She was a vice president and president of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Stephen’s Church at Chester and Circle leader of the St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her children: Ronald R. Horn of Van Nuys, Ca, Rita A. Cooley of Winter Haven, FL, and Betty L. Horn of Torrence, CA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Havel and May Betts, both of Cresco, and Grace Roszell of Waterloo; and one brother, Ernest Pecinovsky of Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, George and Eddie; and four sisters, Frances, Caroline, Elsie, and Ida Voves.
