Raymond Horn services held Friday

Funeral services for Raymond L. Horn were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cresco. The Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiated with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Schley. Casket bearers were grandsons, Michael Horn, Jeff Cooley and Dan Cooley; nephews, Alton Horn and Eugene Pecinovsky and Richard Reinhart. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He died July 16, 1991, in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, at the age of 79.

Raymond L. Horn was born April 26, 1912, to Andrew C. and Anna (Moravetz) Horn at Cresco. He attended the rural schools of Howard County.

On May 22, 1934, Raymond married Clara Pecinovsky in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. They were the parents of four children.

Ray farmed in Howard, Chickasaw and Winneshiek counties, worked at Raths in Waterloo for a brief time and in 1982 he retired and moved to Cresco. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a rural school director for a few years.

Survivors are his wife, Clara of Cresco; a son, Ronald R. Horn of Lolucalake, CA; two daughters, Rita Cooley of Lake Alfred, FL. And Betty Lou Horn of Torrence, CA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also a brother, The Rev. Augustine Horn of Shawnee, OK, and a step-brother, Julius Huber of Austin, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son who died in infancy; two brothers, Carl Horn and Richard Horn; three step-brothers, Edward Huber, Arthur Huber and Clarence Huber; and two step-sisters, Leone Blackburn and Wilma Billmyer.
