Evans
John W. Evans, one of Howard County’s oldest and most highly respected citizens, passed away at his home north of Bonair, Friday, April 28, at the age of 70 years. The funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o’clock by Rev. Hammond of the Welsh Church, Lime Springs, at the place which has been his home for the past 57 years. Burial was in the Phillips cemetery, Bonair.
Besides the widow, Mr. Evans leaves to mourn his loss two sons and six daughters, as follows: Mr. Herbert R. Evans, Bonair; Mrs. O. M. Call, Minneapolis; Mrs. E. W. Goetsch, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Carl Thayer, Bonair; Mrs. A. J. Anderson, Vallard, Minn.; Miss Hazel of Waterloo; Mrs. R. Kreutler, Milwaukee and John, who lives at home. One son and a daughter preceded their father in death.
In the death of Mr. Evans, the community loses a valuable citizen and neighbor and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family.

Transriber’s Note: Mr. Evans was born May 6, 1856 per cemetery records. Some names have been spelled a couple of different ways between Mr. and Mrs. Evans obituaries for the daughters, such as Coll and Call, Goetsch and Goetch, and Kreutler and Krueger so both spellings are included.
