JOHN P. EVANS, 71, RITES HELD MONDAY
Funeral services for John P. Evans, 71, were held Monday at the Cresco United Methodist church with the Rev. Wayne Wasta and the Rev. Robert Cleveland officiating. Burial was in the Phillips cemetery near Bonair. He died Oct. 23 at the Cresco hospital
John Phillips Evans was born Nov. 26, 1899 on a farm near Bonair, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Evans. He was educated in the Howard county rural schools and graduated from Cresco high school. Following a short period in the army during World War I, he returned to the home farm where he farmed the remainder of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Bonair United Methodist church. On Dec. 19, 1927, he married Myrtle Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herbert; sisters Ruth, Mrs. Clay (Edna) Coll, and Mrs. Carl (Mary) Thayer.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John (Betty Ann) Eide of Minnetonka, Minn., a son John C. Evans of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Grace) Anderson of Villard, Minn., Mrs. Rexford (Winifred) Krueger of Germantown, Wis., Mrs. E. W. (Pearl) Goetch of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. O. D. (Hazel) Houser of Ames.
