Robert Elder, 80, Funeral Held Saturday
Funeral services for Robert Hugh Elder, 80, were held Saturday at the United Methodist church with the Rev. Wayne Wasta officiating. Burial was in the Phillips cemetery at Bonair with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home making the arrangements.
Mr. Elder, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Elder, was born in Spencer on Nov. 6, 1893. He was raised in the area and attended Clay county schools. On Dec. 27, 1917, he was married to Lovina Walker and they farmed in Clay county. In 1921 they moved to the Bonair community and lived on a farm just east of town. Mr. and Mrs. Elder retired in 1965 and moved to Lime Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sons, Raymond and Gordon, who died as children.
Mr. Elder is survived by his wife, three sons, Donald of Puerto Rico, Allen of Ridgeway, James of Cresco; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Jean) Szoke of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. David (Helen) Conner of Beaverton, Ore., and Mrs. Gerald (Lois) Stevens of Bonair. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
