Attack Fatal to Mrs. L. Deterding In Home Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Louis Deterding, 66, of Elma, who died in her home following a heart attack suffered Sunday, were held yesterday afternoon at the Saint Paul Lutheran church in Maple Leaf.
Preceding the church service was a family prayer service held in the Deterding home. The Rev. Robert Floy, formerly of Elma, conducted the services and burial was held in the Maple Leaf cemetery.
Mrs. Deterding, the former Bertha Wilamena Laue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Laue, was born in Tripoli, March 13, 1893. After coming with her parents to Howard county in 1902, she attended the rural schools of the county.
She was married to Louis Deterding in the Maple Leaf Lutheran church May 11, 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Deterding became the parents of three children, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Deterding was a member of the Maple Leaf church and the Ladies’ Aid.
Surviving Mrs. Deterding are her husband and three children, Mrs. Gerald (Marie) Stevenson, Henry Deterding and Mrs. George (Edna) Fountain, all of Elma, and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
There are six brothers and sisters also surviving, including Mrs. Minnie Billington of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Richard Laue of Cedar Rapids, Herman Laue of Elma, Arnold Laue of Cresco, Carl Laue of Erma, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Lester (Ida) Stevenson of Cresco.
Preceding Mrs. Deterding in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Laue.
Out-of-town persons attending the funeral services were from Wisconsin, and Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Riceville, Cresco and Lime Springs.
