Charles Bina services held January 10

Funeral services for Charles Bina of rural Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Schley. The Rev. Allen M. Schmitt officiated with interment in the church cemetery. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles, 80, died Saturday, January 7, 1995, at the Howard County Hospital in Cresco of an apparent heart attack.

Charles Bina was born on a farm near Spillville, July 3, 1914, the son of Wenzel and Rose (Soukup) Bina.

On October 13, 1941, he married Helen Mrachek at the Holy Cross Church in Schley. They made their home on a farm east of Schley.

Charles was a long time secretary of the Holy Cross Church and a past 4-H leader. He enjoyed farming until his retirement then took up woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Helen; two sons, Art of Cresco and Ray of Waucoma; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, George of Renton, WA; and four sisters, Anna Mixdorf and Agnes Robertson, both of Waterloo, Sr. Raphael Bina and Sr. Antonia Bina, both of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by an infant grandson; his parents; and two brothers, James and Anton.
